چکیده

Within the framework of exact renormalization group flow equations, a scale-dependent transformation of the field variables provides for a continuous translation of UV to IR degrees of freedom. Using the gauged NJL model as an example, this translation results in a construction of partial bosonization at all scales. A fixedpoint structure arises which makes it possible to distinguish between fundamentalparticle and bound-state behavior of the scalar fields.

Spectral Functions in Holographic Renormalization Group Flows

The spectrum of two-point functions in a holographic renormalization group flow from an ultraviolet (UV) to an infrared (IR) conformal fixed point is necessarily continuous. For a toy model, the spectral function does not only show the expected UV and IR behaviours, but other interesting features such as sharp peaks and oscillations in the UV. The spectral functions for the SU(3)×U(1) flow in A...

Bare Action and Regularized Functional Integral of Asymptotically Safe Quantum Gravity

Investigations of Quantum Einstein Gravity (QEG) based upon the effective average action employ a flow equation which does not contain any ultraviolet (UV) regulator. Its renormalization group trajectories emanating from a non-Gaussian fixed point define asymptotically safe quantum field theories. A priori these theories are, somewhat unusually, given in terms of their effective rather than bar...

KAM–renormalization-group for Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom

We review a formulation of a renormalization-group scheme for Hamiltonian systems with two degrees of freedom. We discuss the renormalization flow on the basis of the continued fraction expansion of the frequency. The goal of this approach is to understand universal scaling behavior of critical invariant tori.

Sine-Gordon model in functional renormalization

SU(N) Yang-Mills theories, which are expected to describe the strong interaction in the case N = 3, are one of the most studied models in theoretical physics. While their asymptotic UV behavior is well under control thanks to asymptotic freedom, the need of non-perturbative techniques to describe the IR behavior has rapidly appeared to be mandatory. The reasons of this non-perturbativity of the...

Reversing Renormalization-Group Flows with AdS/CFT

For scalar fields in AdS with masses slightly above the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound, appropriate non-local boundary conditions can define a unitary theory. Such boundary conditions correspond to non-local deformations of the dual CFT, and generate a non-local renormalization-group flow. Nevertheless, a bulk analysis suggests that certain such flows lead to local CFTs in the infrared. Since the...
